Assassin, What to get for 2nd Class?
I like Necro & Ranger simply because of the whole Pet thing
I don't see any reason to take warrior, as I like the dual-daggers. and the warrior skills focus on specific weapons. Don't see much point in monk, Maybe elementalist if I just want one or two AoE spells as backup.. but that seems like kind of a waste of attribute points. Mesmer spells are at least single-target and could provide back up that way. Not seeing a whole lot of reason why I should take ritualist ATM Any synergies or good combos I might have missed? I mostly plan on playing him as a straight assassin, so not to worried about the secondary class. |

A/D sounds great, but in the factions campaign there's no option for selecting that as a sub job early in the game. I'm not at the point where I can just start swapping them around yet I do have nightfall installed, there's just no Dervish-teaching NPC/option
Thank you for the link as well Envious, but those are very specific builds. I guess it helps with giving me some more general ideas, I was kind of looking more for what might be good as I play through the campaign. Hmm, Ranger is definitely looking good with some of those builds though. |

Don't spend a whole lot of time worrying about it. Just pick something you like and that sounds like it will be fun for you to play thru the early part of the game.
I used to worry about my 2nd job, but as I've progressed I've found that I'm constantly changing my 2nd to meet the situation. You're only stuck with your choice for the first part of the campaign. Even if you pick something totally horrible and useless, the first sections aren't so difficult that it would be a giant liability. You can easily change it to a better fit later in the game before you encounter the tough stuff! If you like a ranger, then go with ranger. I think each profession has something positive to add to the assassin. |

just pick whatever you want yourself, best assassin builds use all sin skills anyway.
also, the idea of taking AoE spells from ele line or a pet as ranger doesnt work well at all |

I started with a monk secondary for the resurrection skill and healing
Then changed to ranger It went ok apply poison mixed with jagged strike was fun. Then changed to dervish for the above posted skills You could use a warrior because of the tactics line Watch Yourself is a good skill to have also some good stances You could also try the Mesmer for interrupt can never hurt “Leech signet always a good addition to the skill bar” I find the best builds are really almost all assassin skills so the choice is yours |

I think you would have more luck posting in the Assassin Forum.
But since you asked, there's A/W with Burst of Agression. There's A/Mo with ressurection and healing just to name a few. |

Short and simple. A/W for more defense. A/E for more offense.

Frankly, I just find it odd that so many people are just spouting out their favorite cookie cutter builds. Creativitiy FTW. |

As has been said:
A/W - Burst of Aggression for 5 seconds of +33% attack rate. Slap on a pair of zealous daggers and you have more energy than you need for any (sane) combo. A/R - See the QuickStrike build (utilizes Apply Poison) A/* - Pure and simple, Cascade build for general knockdown, degeneration and damage. A/E - In response to "You're noob if you use BoA" or, Shadow Prison, that seems to be prevalent amongst people who die by it... I decided to experiment with new builds. So after I got a glad point working with a very good assassin who used Ride the Lightning (I'm horrible with names) for his shadow stepping skill, I came up with this. [skill]Ride the Lightning[/skill][skill]Unsuspecting Strike[/skill][skill]Enduring Toxin[/skill][skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill][skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill][skill]Feigned Neutrality[/skill][skill]Conjure Lightning[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill] High damage output, lengthy degeneration, and quick recharging. Ill see what insight i can give on each.
Ele- can add conjures and maybe stoneflesh or something. not much more than that. Mesmer- not much. interrupt protection? Monk- reuseable rez. mending touch. vigorous spirit Necro- plauge touch Warrior- alot actually. sounds like you dont want an axe sin. but you could use wild blow to refresh critical defenses. also adren skills like wach yourself are great. shove is used by sins. Ranger- antidote signet? troll unglent? evasive stances? Ritualist- reusable rez. nightmare weapon. splinter weapon. Dervish- enchantment buffs and conviction. could try scythes to Paragon- not much. reusable rez. condition removal, go for the eyes |
